Graduation Ceremony Information

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

(As we approach graduation, instructions are subject to change.)

Graduation Training: NOT READY

  • Do not participate in senior pranks. Any involvement in pranks will disqualify you from the ceremony.

Mandatory Practice

There will be a MANDATORY PRACTICE, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Duck Samford Stadium.
Please know your seating location.

Seating Alignment is located on the guest ticket envelope.
(This could change up until graduation week. You will be updated graduation night.)


Parking & Preparation

  • Seniors are encouraged to carpool with family and park at the baseball fields.
  • Handicap parking will be reserved on the field closest to the main home side (east entrance).
  • Please be sure to eat dinner or a snack beforehand, as the ceremony may not end until 9:00 PM or later.

Arrival Instructions (Day of Ceremony)

  • Seniors should arrive at Duck Samford Stadium beginning at 6:00 PM.
  • Enter the field from the south side concessions area (where the band sits during football games).
  • Seniors will collect their name card, which includes a number and row assignment.
  • Signs and teachers will assist in organizing seniors for the processional.
  • Match your seating number and line up in numerical order at the back of the field.
  • Review the seating alignment ahead of time to help you and your guests locate your seating area quickly.

Graduation Ceremony Walk‑Through

7:00 PM – CHIMING OF THE HOUR
All guests are requested to stand.

  1. Processional

    • Stage personnel enter first.

    • Followed by Senior Class Officers and STUCO Officers.

    • Seniors will follow teacher escorts to their assigned rows.

    • Match your name card number to your seat number.

    During the processional, do not wave at friends or family.
    This is not the time to act a fool—don’t embarrass Mom and Dad or yourself!

  2. Ceremony

    • Graduation ceremony will occur.
    • Pay attention to speakers and directions.
    • The National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance will be presented.
    • Remain standing until directed from the stage to sit.
  3. Stage Process

    • Mr. Rice, Dr. Baugh, Mrs. Antoine, Mrs. Middleton, and Mr. Frazier will direct seniors to the stage entrance.
    • BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR NAME CARD.
    • Wait until your name is called by the reader.
      (Hand your card to the reader.)
    • Walk across the stage to Dr. Moore.
    • You will have multiple pictures taken while receiving your diploma.
      SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!
    • Do not make a scene, or your diploma/transcripts will be held.
  4. Recessional

    • Senior Officers will direct seniors to swap tassels after the last graduate walks.
    • Alma Mater will be sung (words are on the back of the program for those who need them).
    • Mortar boards will be thrown.
    • Graduates will then be dismissed to exit the field.

    PARENTS AND GUESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FIELD.


Graduation Guidelines

Due to the serious nature of the ceremony, the following guidelines must be strictly followed:

  1. NO GUM – It does not make for good pictures.
  2. Avoid excessive cologne or perfume (allergies, sneezing, etc.).
  3. Keys, purses, cameras, etc. should be left at home or kept to a minimum, or given to a family member.
    • A water bottle will be available under your seat.
  4. Be considerate of other graduates and guests.
  5. Do not be inappropriate while walking across the stage.
  6. Seniors should use the restroom before entering the field.
    • If an emergency arises during the ceremony, request assistance from an AHS faculty member.

Dress Code

Only approved AHS regalia is permitted.

  • Only AHS‑supplied cords may be worn (NHS, Tech HS, Foreign Language, Debate, Mass Media, etc.).
  • Mortar boards and regalia may not be decorated.

Males

  • Preferably church‑type or semi‑dressy attire
  • Dark or khaki pants with belt or suspenders
  • White or blue shirt with tie (many choose school colors)
  • Dark shoes and socks
  • NO FLIP FLOPS
  • Caps, gowns, tassels, and cords

Females

  • Preferably church‑type or semi‑dressy clothing under gowns or nice slacks
  • Shoes must be appropriate for ramps and stairs
  • NO spiked or stiletto heels due to turf
  • If wearing heels, choose block or platform heels
  • Nice flats are strongly recommended
  • Keep bangling, clanky, or heavy jewelry to a minimum for better pictures
  • NO FLIP FLOPS
  • Caps, gowns, tassels, and cords

Parent Restrictions

  • Parents will not be allowed to enter the graduate area for pictures.
  • This includes lineup areas and access to the field.

Diplomas

  • Actual diplomas may be picked up by seniors (or parents) from the Counseling Suite on the Tuesday after graduation.
  • Any outstanding books, fees, or charges must be cleared before a diploma is issued.

Broadcast Information

  • Graduation will be broadcast live for those unable to attend.
  • Search AHS Mass Media on YouTube.
  • A direct link will also be sent via ParentSquare.
